God’s Word Against eli

In this weeks sermon we see God’s response to the sins of Eli and his house. God is perfect in holiness and justice and though He is also patient and long-suffering, there comes a point when God desires to execute his justice upon unrepentant sinners. And yet, even in the midst of this sobering word against Eli, God also hold forth a promise of a coming priest who is faithful and carries out God’s will perfectly!

A Tale of Two Fathers (part 1)

In this sermon we continue our study in 1 Samuel and we see the shocking contrast between Elkanah and his son Samuel and Eli the priest and his two sons Hophni and Phinehas. In Samuel God is graciously raising up a prophet after his own heart and one who will usher in the the King of God’s choosing, but the sins of Hophni and Phinehas are making them ripe for the coming judgement of God.
