In this sermon we consider the tragic end of Saul. As God said, his life is lost in battle against the Philistines and Israel is left with out a king and many lay slain. While we are encouraged by those who finish well, we must also heed the warnings from someone who did not finish well.

In 1 Samuel 15 we look more closely at Saul’s response to God’s instruction. And while he partially did what he was told, we find that pride caused him to ultimately reject the Word of God!

Pitfalls of Compromise (1 samuel 13)

In 1 Samuel 13 we see things coming apart for Saul as soon as his role as king gets started. With threats all around and an ill equipped army, Saul decides to act contrary to God’s instruction to him through Samuel and as a result is warned that his throne will be removed! We too can learn from the pitfalls of Saul and see God’s goodness despite his failure.
