Once again, Jesus uses imagery that is generally viewed negatively and shows how it is essential for the citizen of His kingdom. Hunger and thirst are typically seen as problems to be solved. Yet, when it comes to righteousness, hunger and thirst are blessed qualities. What does it mean to hunger and thirst for righteousness? How do we come to possess such a desire in the first place? What does it mean that those with such cravings will be satisfied? In this sermon, we will consider these questions together.

We continue our study of the Sermon on the Mount and come now to the Beatitude of meekness. This is a quality of the Christian that is often misunderstood and overlooked. Yet, we work to consider the Biblical understanding of the word and also see many examples in the Scripture of men and women who displayed this.
