As we continue in our study of 1 Timothy we come to the matter of caring for widows. There are many points of controversy in this passage, but we see the family’s responsibility to care for their own, and also the church’s to care for those who are alone and destitute. Furthermore we see that within the group called “widows” there is a unique class of older widows who were employed by the church for unique service and care.
