As Paul turns from the concerns he has about the deceitful spirits and false teachers, he turns to Timothy and continues to give him instruction on how to press on as a good servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Paul’s instruction to Timothy we find much application for us today as well.

As Moses reflects on his many trials and triumphs he passes on a Psalm of wisdom and insight. May we have ears to hear this timeless council.

While Paul states a number of qualification the overseer and the deacon must posses, he also names a number that they must not posses! In this sermon we look at the first three pitfalls that the leader must avoid, namely drunkenness, violence and quarrelling.
