Blessed Holiness
Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.”
Once again, Jesus uses imagery that is generally viewed negatively and shows how it is essential for the citizen of His kingdom. Hunger and thirst are typically seen as problems to be solved. As Paul concludes his letter he gives Timothy a weighty charge to guard this most holy faith. He reminds Timothy that this charge is in the presence of God Himself!
In this sermon we come again to the charge that Paul describes to Timothy and instead of focusing our attention on the essence of “love”, we consider the three channels through which love flows which is a “pure heart”, a “good conscience” and a “sincere faith”.
